The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is the major clinical affiliate and teaching hospital of Weill Cornell Medical College. NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, an 824-bed facility, is centrally located in a collaborative medical community that includes the Hospital for Special Surgery, Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and The Rockefeller University.
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine provides science-based diagnostic services of the highest quality in anatomic pathology and laboratory medicine; pursues innovative basic and clinical research dedicated to improving the diagnosis and management of human disease; and promotes an integrated scientific and clinical educational experience for pathology residents and fellows and Weill Cornell medical and graduate students. We meet our mission through the integrated activities of six divisions:
- Anatomic Pathology, including the full range of subspecialties
- Laboratory Medicine
- Molecular and Genomic Pathology
- Experimental Pathology
- Pathology Informatics
Each division is led by an internationally recognized leader in the field. The Vice Chair of each division is supported, in turn, by a faculty committed to the threefold mission of clinical service, education, and research. Many of our faculty members are listed in "Best Doctors" in New York and America, are considered thought leaders in their field by virtue of their scholarly activities (including the publication of key textbooks in pathology), and are supported by extramural research grants to pursue innovative research in oncology, immunobiology, and vascular biology.
The dedication of our senior faculty to excellence in clinical service, education, and research provides a rich academic environment ideally suited for the training of pathology residents and fellows and the mentoring and further development of our junior faculty. Our training programs are further enhanced by additional opportunities available through Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and The Rockefeller University.
